May 11 2011 - Don Power and Tracy Utterback help United Way of Central New Mexico raise record amount.
Don Power, Chairman & CEO of The Jaynes Companies and the 2010 UWCNM campaign chair, was pleased to announce that United Way of Central New Mexico raised an additional $1 million in 2010, compared to its 2009 campaign!
A record $26,157,000 was pledged for the 2011 year. UWCNM also collected 10 new commitments for its Corporate Cornerstone program, bringing the total C.C. donors to 72. The Corporate Cornerstone program covers the entire administrative cost of 12.6 percent for UWCNM, which allows United Way to send 100 percent of all other gifts to donors’ specified recipients.
Power said of his role as UWCNM Campaign Chair >“I am very proud of our community and deeply moved that we’ve come together and dug deep at a time when we’ve all experienced the repercussions of a sluggish economy…we’ve said loud and clear that we care deeply about the needs of our friends and neighbors. We set out to raise an unprecedented amount of money for regional programs and we succeeded.”
Tracy Utterback, Jaynes’ Controller, aided Don Power as the UWCNM Industry Division Co-Chair and was responsible for reaching out to the construction, utilities, transportation, and specialty contractors. Clint Wells, UWCNM Vice President said, “Tracy’s dedication, professionalism and diligence were key in seeing the Industry Division significant participation for this campaign.”
The campaign got a boost from its 557 Alexis de Tocqueville Society members with 102 new members added during the year! These are individuals who gave between $10,000 and $500,000. The Women in Philanthropy donors of the United Way made up $12.4 million of the campaign total. They were the second-largest women’s donor group among all United Ways nationally in 2010. The Hispanic Philanthropic Society ranked second nationally. And the Young Leaders Society in UWCNM ranked No. 10.
Don and Tracy walk the talk when it comes to the Jaynes' credo "give back to the communities that we earn a living in."
