UNM College of Education

December 04 2008 - Jaynes Corporation was recently awarded the Design/Build Contract for the University of New Mexico College of Education classroom and administration building. The new 26,000 square foot facility is located in the heart of the University of New Mexico campus. The completion date for the multi million dollar project is scheduled for winter 2009.

The project is a three story classroom addition that abuts an existing building. It is located in one of the most congested area of the UNM campus, with thousands of pedestrians walking the perimeter of the project, and situated only 100 feet from occupied dorm rooms.The project is designed to achieve a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. At certification this building will be the first to achieve a LEED Gold rating for the University of New Mexico.The LEED green building rating system – developed and administered by the U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington D.C.-based, nonprofit coalition of building industry leaders is designed to promote design and construction practices that increase profitability while reducing the negative environmental impacts of buildings and improving occupant health and well-being.
