The Albuquerque Studios is a full service motion picture and television production facility located on a 50 acre site in the blossoming Mesa Del Sol development south of the Albuquerque International Airport. Jaynes built the sprawling campus of sound stages, office and back lot space to capitalize on New Mexico's growing film and television industry. Albuquerque Studios will be a state-of-the-art digitally enabled production facility which will support the production of feature films, commercials, television and cable series and industrials.

Design and construction challenges that would normally fall under the “impossible” category were resolved one after another with a healthy “can do” attitude and lots of teamwork. The total design and construction duration for the $58 million first phase lasted 10 months, including obtaining the permits. Logistics and scheduling required that the roof trusses be engineered and manufactured before the design of the buildings was complete. Four months of intense design, value engineering, pricing, and construction planning was followed by six months of fast-track construction.

A survey of the project participants would easily support the notion that the respective management team members were “joined-at-the-hip” throughout the project. Weekly team meetings including the Owner would methodically review the design progress and to fully understand the design, function and cost impacts of the changes.

The true measure of project management was realized in constructing the $58 million project in six month while plans were being finalized. Procurement of long lead materials and equipment during the design phase helped the team meet the fast-track schedule.

Partnering between the architect and Jaynes was extraordinary and key to the project’s successful completion within budget and on schedule despite extraordinary weather delays. The involvement of a very knowledgeable Owner was paramount to this success.
