Employee Health and Well-Being: Jaynes Builds Strength On and Off the Jobsite

Construction is a risky business, and industry-wide, much thought goes into getting workers home safe to their families at the end of the day. Here at Jaynes, that’s built into our DNA.

In commercial construction, staying safe isn’t just about helmets, harnesses, and PPE; it’s also about having innovative training and education, policies, and systems in place to help prevent injuries before they happen. At Jaynes, employee health and well-being are taken seriously. It’s a core value.

Two foundational programs of our safety culture at Jaynes are our Industrial Athlete Program and the Jaynes Clinic.

INDUSTRIAL ATHLETES AT JAYNES

Our craftworkers and field teams are industrial athletes. They rely on their athleticism daily to do a very physical job in often hectic environments. Unlike professional athletes, their playing field is always unpredictable.

Every worker on the job site uses their body, mind, and technical skills to perform physically demanding work safely and efficiently. Almost every job on the project site requires some strength, agility, vision, stamina, situational awareness, and a professional education on potential hazards.

So all construction workers face physical challenges every day. Our crews deserve the same attention to training, recovery, nutrition, and safety that athletes receive. Jaynes has woven the Industrial Athlete philosophy into our safety culture.

One example of this is that we employ certified personal trainers to coach employees, typically on project sites, on the importance of warming up, stretching, and overall health awareness.

Other elements of our Industrial Athlete program to promote health, safety, and well-being include:

  • Nutrition and hydration guidance to sustain energy
  • Pre-task warmups to reduce strain and injury risk
  • Stretch and flex routines to stay limber on the job
  • Ergonomic tools and lift assists to prevent overexertion, and
  • Mental health resources to help keep focus sharp and stress low

When people feel strong, supported, and prepared, they build better and go home safely, project after project. That’s why we’ve invested in this program to treat our field teams like the athletes they are.

THE JAYNES CLINIC: PREVENTATIVE ON-SITE HEALTHCARE

In addition to our Industrial Athlete program, the Jaynes Clinic is another major component of our safety culture. The Jaynes Clinic is a comprehensive on-site healthcare facility staffed full-time by healthcare professionals. It manages all kinds of general family medicine that employees and their families might need. This includes basic first aid, lab work, physical exams, prescriptions, vaccinations, diagnosis, and treatment of common ailments. It’s also a preventative “first line of defense” against work injuries.

The Jaynes Clinic is available right at work—no long drives, no waiting rooms, no hassle. Staffed by licensed healthcare professionals, it offers basic medical services, wellness checks, and injury prevention support for Jaynes employees. The Clinic’s mission is to promote employee well-being through a program that supports employees and families in learning, adopting, and sustaining behaviors that reduce health risks and improve their quality of life.

Here are some of the basic services that the healthcare professionals offer employees and their families at the Jaynes Clinic:

  • On-site lab services
  • Prescription refills and referrals
  • Annual exams
  • Sports physicals
  • Diabetes, asthma, and blood pressure management
  • Treatment of coughs, colds, bumps, and bruises
  • Kinesio taping
  • Eclinic and telephone visits service
  • Injury assessments and first aid for jobsite strains and sprains
  • Preventive care for blood pressure checks, screenings, and flu shots
  • General health visits for common issues (colds, minor infections, etc.)
  • Wellness coaching on fitness, nutrition, and stress management, and
  • Follow-ups and coordination as needed with outside providers

For a construction company like Jaynes, where our people are constantly in motion — lifting, climbing, moving — quick, accessible healthcare isn’t just a perk. It’s protection.

The Jaynes Clinic often catches minor injuries before they become bigger problems. Preventative care reduces time away from work with fast, on-site treatment. The goal is to support overall health, not just job site safety.

Since launching the Jaynes Clinic, employees have told us it’s made a real difference in managing their health. Whether it’s getting ahead of a sore back before it sidelines them or just having someone check in on that nagging cough, convenience matters—and so does peace of mind.

THE BENEFITS OF WELL-BEING IN COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION

Jaynes focuses on injury prevention (things like ergonomic training, stretch-and-flex programs, and early symptom reporting) to reduce the chances of workers being sidelined by strains, sprains, or worse. Fewer injuries mean more consistent, healthier crews, better project momentum, and less scrambling to fill personnel gaps.

Preventing injuries—or catching them early before they become serious claims—cuts down on our workers’ compensation costs. Fewer claims, lower payouts, and less paperwork keep our overhead down. A strong safety record lowers our Experience Modification Rate (EMR), reducing our insurance premiums.

Project teams at Jaynes know that the company has its back, with the Jaynes Clinic, injury assessments, and proactive safety programs. They work more efficiently. When our teammates aren’t worrying about nagging pains or untreated issues, productivity increases, and morale stays high. Projects finish faster and more safely.

Jaynes’ clients care about our safety record, especially in public and institutional sectors like K-12 Education, Healthcare, and Municipal Projects. Strong injury prevention and management programs signal that Jaynes is a reliable, responsible builder and potential project partner. Jaynes’ recent win of the prestigious 2025 Associated General Contractors of America Construction Safety Excellence Award points this out.

The goal? Employees Go Home Safe Every Day. Nothing matters more than knowing our people go home safe to their families. Prevention and management programs aren’t just about numbers — they’re about protecting lives, livelihoods, and families, which is central to Jaynes’ culture.

Injury prevention and management aren’t expenses — they’re investments. They help Jaynes build safer projects, stronger teams, and a better business.

When our people feel their best, they work their best. Most importantly, they go home safe to their families. That’s the heart of Jaynes’ focus on employee well-being.

Employee Safety & Well-Being at Jaynes: Jaynes Corporation has received the AGC Construction Safety Excellence Award (CSEA) in 2012, 2015, and 2025.
