JAYNES CELEBRATES THE GROUNDBREAKING OF ARTESIA RECREATION CENTER
Jaynes Corporation, one of the Southwest’s top commercial contractors, recently celebrated the groundbreaking of the Artesia Recreation Center.
The widely-attended groundbreaking included Artesia city leaders Mayor Jon Henry; Hayley Klein of the Artesia Chamber of Commerce; Sandra Borges, president of the Artesia Recreation Center Foundation and executive director of the PY Foundation; Huitt-Zollars Architect Jose Zelaya; New Mexico U.S. Senate candidate Nella Domenici; Artesia-based philanthropist Peyton Yates; and Jaynes Corporation CEO Shad James. The most excited and vocal attendees were local 3rd-grade students from Central, Hermosa, Roselawn, Yeso, and Yucca elementary schools.
Mayor Henry said at the groundbreaking that the new recreation center will be a place that people of all ages will enjoy. “Jaynes is proud to have such a long legacy in civic-minded projects like this with community leaders in Artesia,” mentioned Jaynes CEO Shad James, “Relationships like this take years to develop and are proof of our sincere commitment to successful community building.”
The two-story facility includes space for pickleball courts, an athletic track, basketball courts, a weight room, and more. The facility will sit adjacent to the Artesia Aquatic Center, another Jaynes project.
In the planning stage for over 18 months, funding for the eagerly anticipated facility came from the PY Foundation, Chase Foundation, TLC Foundation, Frank Yates Jr. Family Foundation, Western Bank, Royal Services, First American Bank, and Devon Energy.
The delivery method for the project is Construction Management at Risk Services (CMAR), where Jaynes is providing the Owners with pre-construction services, detailed cost analysis, early schedule development, constructability reviews, Building Information Modeling (BIM) services, and early selection of subcontractors. Jaynes’s extensive experience completing over 100 CMAR projects has proven that clients gain enhanced cost control, more efficient scheduling, improved collaboration, and reduced project risk with this delivery method.
Jaynes has a long and successful history with large projects in Artesia, including the Artesia Public Library, the Artesia Aquatic Center, multiple projects for the Artesia Public Schools, the Artesia General Hospital, and the Mack Energy corporate headquarters. Our relationships in Artesia go back over 20 years. We are honored to be part of transforming this, and all of the communities we work in across the Southwest.
Stay tuned for the Artesia Recreation Center and exciting pickleball matches launching in early 2026.
