One of the first steps of any new construction job is pouring a concrete foundation. One of the last steps is millwork – all the trim and molding and cabinets and custom-built wood details that make a space functional and beautiful. Jaynes does both. And our self-performed millwork means that our people are there, hands-on, to see every project through from beginning to end.

You could say that concrete is the foundation of our entire company. In 1946, George Jaynes began a one-man business pouring concrete driveways, gutters and sidewalks for residential customers. Within a decade, his humble company had grown into the largest concrete contractor in New Mexico. Today, Jaynes is a leading general contractor with over 200 employees, building complex facilities for a broad range of market sectors throughout the southwest.

A mass migration of Santa Fe County employees starts this week when workers from a couple of agencies – the Growth Management/Land Use and Assessor’s Offices – move from the historic county administration building on Grant Avenue to a new complex two blocks away that is still under construction.

When Los Alamos-based Pebble Labs began outgrowing its incubator space at the New Mexico Consortium Biological Laboratory, those at the Consortium saw a potential problem. “We didn’t want [Pebble Labs] to leave Los Alamos,” or possibly the state, said Consortium CEO Steven Buelow. “We filled all our space.”
