Northeast Elementary School
2016 ENR Southwest Best K-12 Education Project
2016 AGC NM Best Buildings $20+ Million
The accelerated ten-month schedule was maintained while we simultaneously built Northeast Elementary School and Hermosa Middle School for Farmington Municipal Schools. The CMAR process allowed our teams the ability to simultaneously review, critique and develop pre-construction plans or addressing the same tight schedule and unique site challenges on the projects.
The Northeast team was faced with an occupied campus, which limited our lay down area, equipment and material storage, and job site trailer placement. We worked with the campus administration to find the best place for our operations to minimize disruption from building activities. During excavation we discovered organic matter from an old orchard, which was mitigated through environmental testing, remediation, and removal.
Each of us knew the added safety concerns for the active campus. Because we worked with FBT Architecture on both the Hermosa and Northeast schools, our consistency in team and thorough understanding of Owner expectations made this project even more successful.
