Great Minds Think Better Together

Jaynes Hosts Quarterly Market Outlook Meetings

The construction industry, like most things post-Covid, is going through a shake-up. Economic challenges are at the forefront of everyone’s mind. Supply chain disruptions, inflation, materials availability, and staffing challenges affect people across all disciplines. At the same time, an influx of government spending on infrastructure projects has opened fresh opportunities for economic growth, and the housing market has shifted the demand to apartments and multi-family housing.

With so many changes affecting the industry, it’s more important than ever to come together to help each other navigate these challenges. Over the past 77 years, we’ve built partnerships with some of the best minds and hardest workers in the Southwest. It’s been our honor to bring some of those people together under one roof to discuss the issues facing our industry in our new quarterly market outlook meetings.

Giving Everyone a Seat at the Table

Jaynes began hosting market outlook meetings this fall at our Albuquerque, New Mexico headquarters. We’ve recently had our second meeting and intend to continue them quarterly.

These meetings bring together a number of industry professionals, from general contractors and subs to architects, designers, and owners, to discuss issues facing the construction industry.

Our last meeting had attendees representing varied organizations, including Studio Southwest Architects, B&D Industries, Los Alamos National Laboratories, and others.

Led by Teryn Lamoreux, Operations Support Director at Jaynes Corporation and 2022 president of Associated General Contractors of New Mexico, we reviewed recent reports of ongoing market pressures, opportunities, challenges, and risks throughout our region and the construction industry at large. We then opened up the discussion to get our attendees’ perspectives to facilitate problem-solving and collaboration.

Collaboration Is the Way Up

While it could be tempting to be protective of this information or territorial about solutions, we believe the only way to move forward is to move upward together. It takes many hands to build anything of value, and the opportunities for growth and challenges facing our industry are shared across multiple disciplines.

The problems facing construction do not exist in isolation. They have a tangible effect on our communities. From the cost of construction projects to managing timelines to considering new safety precautions, every decision made on a job site has an effect on the people we work with and for.

Our construction philosophy advocates for having multiple disciplines around the planning table as early as possible. Our general approach to business is the same. When we combine the knowledge, wisdom, and experience of the area’s best thinkers, we are able to solve problems in a way that benefits us all.
