Aspen Elementary School

2015 AIA CITATION AWARD RECIPIENT
2016 AGC NM Best Buildings $10-20 Million Runner Up

During pre-construction of the two-story addition and renovation, the project team worked together to phase the project to minimize disruption to students and faculty. Through the implementation of weather delays, phasing of the project and coordination of portable classrooms, the team helped commit to a fast paced schedule and an early finish. Aspen had additional scope that was maintained within the existing budget and schedule.

With a three month early completion, the project required effective coordination of deliveries around school hours and high traffic times. Our team worked with the county to add parking in the area and accommodate construction. Also, the team recognized that moving the entire school to portables would allow for earlier completion. With the teaming spirit, the faculty was willing to do just that.

In partnering with the school, the project team provided students the opportunity to see how construction applied to their studies. The Project Superintendent created a lesson with a teacher to present to the class and also gave them a job site tour. The spirt of community and willingness that pulsed through the project team proved to be a driving force in the project’s success.
