Luminaria Senior Community

Jaynes spearheaded the construction services for the innovative Luminaria Senior Community project. The project encompasses the construction of a four-story, 68,000 square-foot building featuring 92 one or two-bedroom units designed specifically for seniors aged 55 and older. This newly constructed facility takes the form of an L-shaped, four-story wooden structure, housing a variety of amenities. The ground level is dedicated to public use spaces, including leasing/business and maintenance offices, a residents’ lounge, a social service office, and various amenity areas. An elevator facilitates vertical movement to the residential units, as well as access to a terrace offering panoramic views of the city and the Sandia Mountains. On the ground floor, you will find units situated within the fenced area of the site, designed with Universal Design principles to enhance adaptability for aging-in-place. These principles include wider passage doors, low to no threshold heights, increased turning and maneuvering space, especially in restrooms, side-by-side washers and dryers in all units, soundproof wall and window assemblies, kick plates on unit entry doors, specialized cabinetry door hardware, taller elongated toilets, and built-in wall reinforcements for future grab bar installations in all restrooms. This project proudly achieved LEED SILVER certification.

The Luminaria community offers a wealth of amenities tailored to the needs of its senior residents. An on-site social services coordinator is available, along with semi-annual Medicare/Medicaid eligibility screenings and application assistance. Additionally, technology training sessions are provided to seniors looking to enhance their digital skills. The community will also feature an on-site Roadrunner Food Bank and distribution hub.

Jaynesā€™ resources played a critical role in this project as our BIM department completed laser scanning for the parking lot to verify drainage slopes. The Luminaria Senior Community represents a remarkable addition to our community, and its benefits will endure for years to come. Jaynes is proud to have collaborated with D/P/S Architects and GAHP to create a facility that serves the generation that has paved the way for our communities.
