This innovative project is being built with the Deaf, Deaf-Blind, Deaf+, and Hard-of-Hearing communities in mind and aims to provide a safe, accessible, and inclusive living environment that empowers individuals with sensory impairments and promotes independent living. The development will feature 92 apartment units with one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts, with preference given to deaf, deaf-blind, and hard-of-hearing individuals. It will also include a small community park. The apartment complex is only the fourth development of its kind in the country.
Located in a convenient and centrally accessible area, the Hiland Plaza Apartment Complex will feature a range of thoughtfully designed residential units. Each apartment will be equipped with visual and tactile aids that facilitate effective communication and navigation.
The complex will be meticulously built to achieve a LEED Platinum certification and to prioritize safety/ease of movement. Common areas, such as corridors, elevators, and recreational spaces, will be carefully planned to accommodate the specific needs of the deaf and blind community. Jaynes Structures is self-performing the millwork for this project which includes incorporating unit casework, countertops, and commercial space work all which will enhance the project’s unique design.
