Tibbetts Middle School

WINNER OF THE 2014 ASSOCIATED GENERAL CONTRACTORS NEW MEXICO BEST BUILDINGS AWARD IN THE BIM CATEGORY

The Tibbetts Middle School project consists of the construction of a new 98,561 square foot, two-story middle school complete with a gymnasium, cafeteria, shop, orchestra and band rooms, and other general classrooms. The middle school is constructed with masonry walls connected with steel joists, and has an exterior finish consisting of brick, stucco, and metal wall panels. Along with the middle school there is a track and field, a staff and visitor parking lot, bus loop and access road, exterior basketball court, and miscellaneous sidewalks and concrete paving. The project includes new storm drain system, installation of new water and sewer lines, installation of a new fire protection line, and gas and electric lines that serve this facility.

The project team was successful with a two-month early completion. The schedule momentum was due to the phased punch system utilized. Also, change orders accounted for only 0.79% of the total construction cost.

The spirit of giving the district the absolute best value for their dollar was on the forefront of every decision.
